Insuprid – Hypoglycemic Agent. Diabetes 2 Type

Insuprid is oral hypoglycemic agent, a derivative of third-generation sulphonylurea. Glimepiride, the active substance of Insuprid, reduces blood glucose concentration, mainly through stimulation of insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells. Its effect is primarily connected with the improvement of the pancreatic β-cells ability to respond to the physiological glucose stimulation. Insuprid has extrapancreatic hypoglycemic effects (increased tissue sensitivity to insulin and insulin-mimetic effect).
